Google Play Developer Services to end support for Android Jelly Bean
Google announced on the 8th that it will end support for Android 4.1 ~ 4.3 Jelly Bean (JB, API level 16 ~ 18) at the end of Google Play developer service version 21.30.99 scheduled to be released at the end of August (Android Developers Blog). Articles, Neowin articles, SlashGear articles).
Nine years have passed since JB was first released, and the number of active devices is less than 1% of all Android active devices. Not all of the various new features and improvements in Android have been backported to JB, which would add to the developer effort.
The features included in the current SDK version will continue to be available, but you may get build errors when trying to support APIs 16-18 with the new SDK. Therefore, it is recommended to change the app to support only API 19 or later.
If you want to continue supporting JB, you can set the build variant in Gradle, divide the flavors by API 19 or later, and specify the corresponding version of his Google Play developer service.
